Training
At the heart of Medical Services achievements is the continuing commitment to and investment in people training from the time they are recruited into the company and throughout their career.
With fully equipped training facilities at our Centres of Excellence London ambulance stations in Bow and Alperton and in our other locations, new PTS starters undergo a two week intensive in-house training programmes; the courses covers corporate policies on personal integrity, honesty and hygiene and dealing and communicating with patients; other topics including haemodialysis, infection control, blood borne virus, clinical waste disposal, personal safety skills, drivers’ requirements, vehicle cleaning and reporting procedures.
For courier drivers & riders the training is equally rigorous with specific focus on handling different types of goods such as blood specimens, urine, biopsy samples, sterile surgical instruments, dealing with spillages, and transporting nuclear medicine and organs.
As an official training centre for Edexcel, the UK’s largest awarding body of skills qualifications, Medical Services is always looking for new opportunities to improve people skills.
For example, in 2011, the company collaborated with the Energy Savings Trust to give virtually every Medical Services vehicle driver 'smarter driving' lessons to improve fuel consumption, save money and carbon and to enhance their driving skills.
